1963 220Sb Speedo/Rust Repair with pics of my baby!

Hi,
I am currently in the process of restoring my 1963 220Sb which needs a little bit of body work. It is ivory beige and has been tapped on the rear passenger about 20 years ago when owned by the previous owners which resulted in not only damage to the tail light, bumper (top and bottom) and tapped the rear in just a little bit which rusted up a little bit, but it can all be straightened out and I have the parts to fix it ready to go, plus some European headlights to go with it, but is there a source for replacement metal for the W111s or even a whole rear quarter panel? This car is going to be restored to be as factory and is currently mechanically perfect and clean running. It was parked for 20 years after it was hit and never on the road until I got ahold of it.

The other issue I am currently having is the speedometer (only the speedometer, all other gauges work correctly) which seems to have skipped a gear internally? as I hear it wind up as I drive but the reading may say 80mph while going an actual 30mph. Do I need to replace the speedo or is there someone who rebuilds them so I can keep my original one?

I have the same car with a red interior in worse condition. My speedo reads 80 when it is really going 60. I think it is overly-optimistic. I don't have an answer to your question. Too bad someone put in a wrong radio... maybe the dash wasn't cut (hopefully).

I would very much appreciate a picture of the front center cushion (from above and below), as my car does not have that. Is it sitting in a tray or directly attached to the tunnel? I have several center cushions but they don't seem to fit in the tray that came in my car...

They fit into the tray. If your car is a floor shift then the optional cushion wasn't offered as the tray was smaller and the shifter was in the way of a middle passenger anyhow. If you have a column shift car and the cushions are still too big for the tray, someone likely swapped in a floor shift tray.

It's lovely. In 1966 I bought a 1964 220Sb, Sea Green, with tan leather. I was once stopped by a state trooper; "What have I done?" I asked. "Nothing," he said. "I just wanted a close look at your car."
That wouldn't happen nowadays; the MB is too common.

Speedo

I have had good results with Hollywood Speedometer. They repaired my Porsche speedo. You can ask if they know how to repair a barber pole speedometer.

The one in my Emerald Bullet works correctly.
