problem with 1971 220 clutch
I let my 220 sit for about three weeks while I was away on the job. When I returned yesterday the car started up fine but I went to push the clutch down and it dropped to the floor with no resistance. I believe that the system I have is hydraulic but I'm not sure. Can anyone give me any advice on how to deal with this problem.

Try pumping the clutch. Being hydraulic like the brakes it may do something. If it comes up you need a clutch master.

Make sure you have fluid in the resevoir ?
Have you bled the system recently? It's done backwards on some (all?) mercedes clutches, where you have to push fluid in at the slave cylinder by running a hose from a brake caliper to the clutch and then pumping the brake. Weird, but it apparently works. -CTH |
