280se fuel pump rebuild

Hi all, I picked up a '72 280se around a month and a half ago and due to various reasons have only now been able to take a look at it. I've done a lot of reading about the injection system in that time and feel somewhat comfortable at getting this thing running after sitting at least a decade.

Starting with the fuel system, I put the car up on jackstands to take a look at the pump in the rear of the car...I could hear it spinning when the ignition is turned on, but no fuel was making it to the front. I took it off and primed it and found that it leaks. It's the "short" pump, so I'm ready to follow this guide to hopefully get this one squared away: Pagoda SL Group Technical Manual :: Fuel / FuelPumpRebuildLater

The catch is that I don't see kits available anywhere! After some digging it seems that the parts number for the kit is 000 586 01 47 for $19. Some people have had luck, but other people say it's NLA. Any input on this? If it's NLA from the dealer, does anyone know where I could get an aftermarket? I'm not above using an Airtex that other people have made work, but I'd like to keep it stock if possible (just not bad enough to spend $800 for a replacement Bosch).

Even though it is leaking, I managed to soak my driveway in gasoline in the few seconds it was running, so I decided to soldier on. I disconnected the injector lines on the MIP side and reconnected the supply line. I ran the pump with the key in the on position for several seconds and then tried to start the car. I cranked for around 30 seconds and got nothing out of the top of the pump (check valves?). I have a few diesels, and they have a hand prime system on their IPs...I didn't see one on here and was wondering if there was a way to prime the mechanical pump?

I attached a pic of the car for those who are interested, I paid $1,100 and came with a load of extra parts. Don't tell me how bad I did The fellow I bought it from had owned it since 07 and never had it running. He said he thought it was something to do with the IP. I guess we're about to find out.

Did you get it running yet?

Yes I have! I had some other issues I mentioned in another thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/359490-280se-m130-warm-running-issues.html

It's about time for an update there too...
