123e into 114c engine swap ?'s
I've searched the forum and can't find anything about this swap so forgive me if I searched wrong. Here goes:
I have JMURIZ old 1974 280c and Twalgamuth's 1984 (? IIRC ) - 280e engine. Upon initial looks, it seems the only issue I may encounter is clearance for the induction/injection. Has anyone done this swap and can confirm that there will need to be some clearancing ? Or will it be a straight " pull and put " on the engine install ? FWIW I'll also be converting to a 4 speed manual at the time I do the engine

scotty b:
You are correct about the inlet plenum interference. The W123/M110 plenum does not clear the W114 inner structure. The W114/M110 injected engines were equipped with D-jet, and had their own unique plenum. |

Thanks Frank. Judging by your post count I'm not sure I should trust your info

Wow, never even thought there'd be a clearance issue. I always thought the W114 chassis had a taller engine bay than the W123.
Maybe time to tinker and/or talk with Stephen about my previous plans for the engine.

The problem is not with height, but with lateral interference. The W123 engine bay is wider than the W114/115.

Ahh, I see. Good info.
I have the same issue with the CIS system on my 914...fit just fine in a 911 but juuuust touches the firewall on a 914.
