Flares

My 72 280SE came with a set of flares. I think they might be OEM, but I'm not sure. More importantly, are these safe to keep in the car?

I called my local dealer to confirm this.

He says MB never sold flares as an accessory.

Maybe the prior owner was a truck driver?

Since flares breakdown due to moisture after a couple years, you can soak them in oil and throw them in the trash, or you can try to light them in the back yard

Thanks Strelnik! I'm gonna soak them in oil and toss 'em.

Oh. Roadside emergency flares...

I thought you meant you inadvertently bought a 108 with flares...and wondered if they were from the factory. That would have been a cool story.

"Hey guys, my 108 came with flares, are these from the factory?"

"Nah, but if you don't like the look, I'll give you $500 for the car."
