w108 brake lights stopped working. Help! The car will be used at a wedding coming up

hey all,

is the driver side door dome switch related to the brake lights?

i just got my car back from the paint shop. i noticed that they broke the door dome light switch. so they just pulled out the switch completely and are going to order a new one. could that be the reason why my brake lights don't work now?

also, my number 5 fuse keeps popping. i'm thinking they crossed a wire somewhere when they took the doors off. my windows don't go down without that number 5 fuse. when i put a new fuse in and run the windows, it eventually pops. .... i did notice that they flipped the wires on the driver window. UP is down. and Down is up. could that be causing a short?

Please help. I'm supposed to be using the car in a wedding next week,.. brake lights would be nice. windows would be a bonus since its gonna be a hot day.

Thanks!

I will take a look at my wiring diagram later and can email you a camera phone pic of pertinent parts of it if you PM me your email address.

Electrical gremlins after things have been taken apart and somewhat put back together can be a bear to trace online, but starting with "what should be" should help, if you are handy with a multimeter.
