Two questions

I would like to know the difference between the 114 model and the 115 model. I was looking at some of the parts on my 1972 250 and allot of them start with 115.
I'm looking into replacing the felt strips that go around the outside of the windows. Would like to know if anyone on this board has done it. Hard? Were did you buy them? I looked on the partshop website and found something called window brush is this it?
Thanks for your help,

I believe the window brush is the black brush-like strip that attaches to the outside section of the door at the base of the window.

Generally, the 114 are 6 cyl cars and the 115 are 4 cyl. Many parts are interchangeable, so you could have 115 part numbers on your 250.

The w114 & w115 are build in exactly the same timeperiod and are not preceding or succeding on each other.
The W115 is the 4 cyllinder model and the W114 the 6 cyl. and that is the only difference between the two.
The vent windows are found on the w114&w115 type 1and 1.5 the type 2 came without the vent windows.
The type one also has a manual shift on the column and type 1.5 & 2 have 4 on the floor or all types could be fitted with automatic transmission.

for example the MB i have is a 1968 W115 200 type 1. M115 engine .Manual trans.,vent windows so the mirrors are placed on the door.
Visit the link for pictures.

Thanks for the information!! I checked out the W114/W115 website. You have listed that the 250 with 2.8L has injectie (You mean fuel injection)? If so, the 250 doesn't have fuel injection.
250 2.8 2.8 liter 6 cil. benzine injectie 2778 cc 130 M 130 1969-1976

Another question does my 250 with 2.8 have more power then the 280?
280 2.8 liter 6 cil. benzine 2746 cc 160 M 110 1972-1976

The European M110 2.8 has more power than the M130 2.8. Here in the US, smog regulations cut power to about 120-140 hp. The 'E' injection versions of the 114 body 250, 280 weren't sold in the US.

The outside window strip is sold by MB by the meter. I remember it being about $10 for enough to do the coupe.

I did it when I fixed my door stops and did a detailed post on it about a month ago.

I always wanted to know why that the car makers didn't use fuel injection when he had it since the 50's. But we kept using carbs. instead.

CT= Is this a hard job to replace the outside window strip? I looked on mine and it looks like it is one piece, instead of differnet pieces.

You need to remove the outside molding and then pry the clips off the top of the door. Then you need to remove the clips from the old molding, cut the new one to size, put the clips on it, and then mount it back on the door. Took about 20 minutes.

Dealing with the clips is a PITA and I recommend that you get four new ones for each strip you replace.

The weatherstrip is 115 725 09 65 - from my invoice.

The parts book shows 115 988 10 78 for the clips.
