need help: 109 indicator lights jerking

The car I bought last fall with a lot of open ends (dash is out... and I need to renovate the ventilation, AC and the wood...
I wanted to get inspection today and now the indicator lights are way too fast.
All light bulbs seem to work and the wattage is correct, rear 21W, front the 2 stage bulbs.
Also the emergency lights (pull know in the dash for the 4 lights blinking) are not working at all. I think I hear the relay clicking like crazy right behind the emergency knob...
I have never dealt with these lights before.

What is wrong?

Martin

I can speculate... The wire coatings can get dry rotted and start to crumble leaving bare wire. If that is happening you would have shorts that cause problems. I would follow the wires to the fuse panel looking for breaks in coating and bare wire.

Best of luck. Please let us know what turns out the be the cause.

Jeffrey

Thanks Jeffrey,

I'll follow the cables...but as the harzar is not working at all..could it be that the Relay behind the Hazard flasher (round pull knob)is dead all of a sudden after winter storage?

Could be a bad relay. Easy enough to swap relay with a known good one to check. I would still inspect the wires.

I looked found an old thread called "Twelve Steps for Classic Car Fiends".

It is timeless.

If it has US "Fog light" turn signals, check the bulbs inside them. If they short or cross-circuit (either in the bulb or the base) they will cause this. Happened to me. A bad connection in any of the housings/harnesses can cause this too. Good luck!
