1966 200D Fintail Test Drive

I decided to take the car for a test just around the block today, even though it's been blazing hot the past week, which is not normal for this part of the country. I vacuumed the interior, cleaned all the windows and fired her up. It starts so easy now and runs like a top. It took a bit to get used to the 4 speed on the floor and finding reverse, but I was getting it. One thing for danged sure is the brakes definitely need work. Also, the generator light was staying on, but that could just be the contacts as the connectors are pretty rusty. I'll clean them next time and see what happens. I just don't like working on an engine while dripping sweat. I love the huge steering wheel too. Next too is getting all the lights to work, but I am very happy with the car and even in the neighborhood it was turning some heads.

Cool. I've never had the chance to ride in a diesel fin. Must be an interesting experience! What part of the country?

Thanks. It's in kind of rough shape with faded paint, but I will post some pics soon.

It is definitely a different kind of ride, but that little 4 cylinder gets the job done. I am about 40 miles southeast of Seattle in Enumclaw.

Today I replaced the left rear wheel cylinder. I am also going to replace the fronts and most likely the master too. It's all about $$$, so it will be a slow process. And I just found out from the guy who gave me the car that he also has the star emblem for the hood. He removed it for safe keeping because he said jerks like to steal them.

I promise I will post some pics soon.
