W115 - does this look a bit wrong to you?
I changed my fanbelt about five or six weeks ago and just noticed this under the hood:
http://imgur.com/gallery/7Y7xvrJ Looks like the belt is rubbing on something as it looks like it's worn away slightly. I didn't really pay attention to the writing on the belt when we installed it before. This is not good, right? Where would it be rubbing? I don't see anything obvious! Thanks! |

Either your belt is too tight or it is not the correct "V" for the grooves. I would just put a bit more slack in it and see if everything continues to work as it should.
Too much tension on the belt will cause it to not ride correctly and it will start to rub on the edges of the pullys. |

Looks like surface abrasion and could be caused from the engine shock bracket. Not likely to be from incorrect tension.

Yes, it's on the top of the belt, so something is rubbing from above. The engine shock bracket sounds like the candidate. Are they even available still? Mine is definitely tired...
