Correct Chassis Number?
Hello,
I have a 1964 190c, in the process of trying to register the car and I have found 2 different chassis numbers on it, the one on the radiator support is WAY different than the one on the frame rail. Radiator Support 110.010-10-069524 (denotes a 190c pre-1965) Passenger Frame Rail 110.011-10-038936 (denotes a 230? post 1965) Body Tag (I think this is what its called?) on radiator support A110.010-10-25290 From what I have researched the body tag serial number should be a little off from chassis number, maybe not 44,000 units though or 13,000 depending on which one you look at. The Frame rail and the chassis plate should match and they do not, maybe car was wrecked and repaired with parts from another? The car is definitely a pre1965 190, I think the radiator tag is more correct. Also the plate is missing off the engine, and the number I found I believe to be a generic casting number? Im waiting on my title to come back from the state before I can request the build sheet. What do yall think? Which one is correct? |

If nobody pipes in, you should PM forum member DieselPaul. He has a 190c and could probably help you out.

The engine on your car is M121. So your car is 190 with some parts from 230. And you need to order data-card for the 110010-10-069524. Quote:

On engines from that era I have seen data plates that were stamped out and attached to the engine, not stamped into the engine as was common with US cars.
Over time these plates fall off or get knocked off when the engine is rebuilt. Look for the plate on the side of the block. They are usually towards the rear on the side. You may find only some holes where the rivets once were. The engine plates are about two inches or so long and about .5 inches high. They are black with white letters. And they are usually on the left side of the block since the manifolds were on the right. They can still be covered up by plumbing or grease or just caked on dirt. |

Thanks everyone,
I guess this is where the plate should be? When I order the data card will it have the engine number on it? Is there anyway to know for sure what the engine number is without that plate on it? Also I got it started for the first time today!! I've noticed in my internet travels that there isn't a whole lot (or I haven't found much) information about the M121 engine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPMXfyyj_EU |

Congratulations! It is alive!
The data card will have chassis, vin, engine and transmission numbers. The plate you named "Plate" has your VIN. The "Body Plate" has a chassis number and your paint code "DB ______". You are making progress!

Are you missing the air filter? I didn't see it in the video.
