W114/W115 Oil Pan Guard
 

A car I bought had one of these on it and I've not seen another since. I searched these forums and found no mention of W114/W115 oil pan guards. I figured I'd post something about it so others could be made aware of their existence. I'm also curious if any other vintage chassis came with them. Anybody else have one of these on their W114/W115?

I've attached a couple pics. I wiped it down to see if it has any number stampings but there are none unless I missed them. I didn't find a listing for it in the parts book either.

Pretty common on the W115 diesels. Their large sump area made them vulnerable to parking stops. They could be a real PITA when it came to oil changes and they were excellent for collecting ALL the drips and gunk from the engine's fluids. Not that ANY of the old 220's and 240's ever leaked.:rolleyes:

Usually, by the third oil change, they were discarded. People usually ended up reinforcing the lower steel pan with added plating.
