I *think* you're talking about the rack damper bolt , NA cars don't have them .

MXfrank asked if your fuel return hose is the cigar hose or a straight pipe. I don't think you answered that question? My 240D also has a fluctuating idle problem. More noticeable when it's cold and I've got the Idle speed adjusted high. The PO replaced the cigar hose with a straight viton hose as he'd run biodiesel in it. I'd be interested to know if yours is the cigar hose or straight.

O.K. , I'm always willing to learn , my various NA OM617 Coups didn't have one .
Maybe it's different on the NA engines ? . I bought the ' up graded ' rack damper bolt on a suggestion and discovered my Na cars couldn't use it . My idle problem lay elsewhere , I no longer remember what it was . Someone will chime in who knows .
