Wire Mesh Filter
The M110 has a small wire mesh filter on the inside of the valve cover where the breather connects to the rubber tube that goes to the air cleaner. I would like to replace it rather than trying to clean 39 years of crud from it. Has anyone ever done this and if so, what did you use for the wire mesh?

I believe it's called a flame trap. I found this to be nearly identical in size:

I don't know what size you need but mid 80's and newer Ford 3.8 V6 motors had a round one in the rear of the intake manifold under the PCV valve.

If you have the version with a carb and the big air filter you might check out Mercedes part number 001 094 69 04. These usually go for less than $40.
The air filter might not be the one you need but it usually comes with a Flame Trap built into the side of it. This would put the flame trap next to the air filter and not in the port coming off the side of your valve cover. Check it out. It might be what you are looking for. |
