w108 thermo-time switch

My cold start injector isn't firing in my 72 280SE, and my thermo-time switch tested bad. There happened to be a 70 in a junkyard near me, so I went and pulled the used one...when I got back to put it in the car, I noticed that the connector was different.

The one out of the junkyard was like this:

Whereas the one in my car is like this:

The EPC calls for part number 001 545 92 24 for my car, but that's clearly not what I have. Looking at newer models, it appears the one in my car is 004 545 91 24, but these sensors don't have the part numbers stamped on them. Since these aren't cheap and it's hard to tell for certain based on pictures, does someone know offhand if the 004 switch will thread up to a 001 hole? Since mine is one of the last w108s built, could it be they built the last few cars with the newer connector? If mine was converted, they did a good job because it looks factory.

Thanks!

Hi,
I believe in this will fit.
The 'screw-type' has also been mounted in Volvo-cars, and this is interchangeable with the AMP-Types (0280130200 / 0280130218) used in other car-brands also.
Take a look: Volvo P1800 - International Owners Club - Thermo-time switch

In this thread (sorry, in German): https://oldtimer.tips/en/forum2/jetronic/114-w108-frage-zu-thermozeitschalter-benzinschlauch#742 you find a photo of the type you found in a W108.

This is called interchangeable with the 3 other types...

You must take care to connect the wires correctly. They must not be interchanged. The contacts are marked with 'G' and 'W' -sometimes only to be seen with a magnifying glass.

Regards
Norbert

Pretty sure my 4.5 had the same type yours does. The two are almost guaranteed to be the same thread and fit. I will try to remember to look when I go to Scranton tonight to see if I have a spare lying around.
