W116 Front seats in a W114

The front seats in my '76 W114 are pretty trashed and I've been looking for some better ones in the same color. Today I found a lead on a W116 with a clean interior about an hour away from my house at a pick and pull.

Can anyone confirm if the W116 front seats will work in a post facelift W114? Also, the W116 has the classic MB "bundt" wheels which interest me as well. What would be a fair price to pay for a set of four in good condition?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about the seats but the wheels would be a good buy at Pick N Pull.

They will likely need restoration no matter where you buy them. Look for a shop that plasma coats things and see what they charge for wheels.

There are also shops that do nothing but restore wheels and they will make sure they not only look good but are trued up.

Don't know about a full on seat swap, but I found that a W116 plastic trim piece that fits onto the lower seat frame towards the door fit onto the seat frame of a seat in one of my W115s.

Update

I bought the seats and wheels, plus a bunch of switches and Zebrano trim to freshen up my W114, or flip on eBay. I got everything for $250, which I think was a smoking hot deal.

I spent this morning and afternoon making the swap. For those interested, the W116 seats are not an exact fit; I had to delete the height adjustment rail, then put the W114 rails on the W116 seat. One thing I discovered was that the W114 forward/back adjustment handle cannot be reused, you must use the W116 adjustment handle (it's flatter, and allows you to have the correct amount of leverage)

The job wasn't very hard, but for a first timer, it did take some problem solving. Overall, I am very happy with the results. If anything, the seats are 1.5" lower than the stock W114 seats, but I find them to be much more comfortable. I'm conditioning the seats to soften them up. They're very pretty, but I can tell they are a little dry.

Great photo and good work on the seats.

I think Bundt wheels can look really sharp on the w115/w114.

Thanks Noah! I love the stock hubcaps, but I really like how the added width of the Bundt wheels give the car a more "aggressive" look.
