Steering wheel horn button - 1959 220S

I am looking to replace the horn button on the center of the steering wheel. Can someone tell me how the button mates to the button plate?
The one on the car appears to have been 'hot glued' to the button plate.

here are some pictures of the horn button that was on the car. I am looking at an aftermarket button and wondering how it mounts to the plate. I think that the previous owner damaged the button with some sort of glue.
