Can you remove contact plug on the rear of temperature sensor? And try it with out it connected Problems you can get with this item if it goes wrong . Then it sends a message to ecu that engine is cold so then the ECU sends the injection more fuel so it is then to rich .

I have seen this car with both the injection and the side draft carb. It just depends on which market this car was originally going to. Either way you are getting too much fuel.
And is this a US car? I think this model was only imported into the Houston zone during that year and then only in small numbers. If this is injected then find the cold start valve and see if you can unplug it. If the condition continues then disconnect the line to the cold start valve and find a way to plug it. Careful here; there is at least 40 psi coming out at that point. On second thought... You might want to let a professional mechanic deal with this. Just testing the cold start valve is an easy thing to mismanage. If this has the side draft then you need to adjust the fuel/air ratio. This is easy to do and only involves loosing a nut at the bottom of the carb and turning the adjustment screw one way or the other. Before you did this you should do a bit of research on the Stromberg CD carb. There is stuff on the net that will explain how to adjust this. |
