W108 rear caliper options (W126?)

Hi all,

I see the w108 replacement rear calipers have become quite pricey. I wonder if some much cheaper W126 replacement calipers will fit? Some come with the hose at an angle, which I guess won't work. But some others come with the hose vertical, which may work.

Any experience with that would be appreciated.

Alternatively, I would be interested in a good place to send my current calipers for a rebuild.

Thanks!

Probably depends on where you live because shipping can add to cost. I took the fronts for my 85 300D to a shop in Toronto and they rebuilt them for me while I had lunch for C$60 each. Some auto parts stores will send them to Cardone. DIY job also possible - many how-to links on web.

Rebuild kits are available and the effort should simple for someone of your ability.

I met this scenario ( car bought with two LH calipers installed ) ; after looking at W126s etc - nothing else fits!
I sourced a used unit and refurbished it. The bores were OK so just cleaned it all thoroughly and installed new dust seals.
