1978 300cd rear window

I am removing my rear glass (windshield) to fix some rust under the gasket. The gasket is cut, the glass is loose but I can not see how to get the two little tabs, (one on each side about halfway up) that I assume go to the rear defroster off. Do I need to remove the upholstered panel on the inside of the rear pillar? If so, how?

I don't know this car specifically, but once you do gain access, be sure to hold the tab tight against the glass while you wiggle the wire to pull it off. Tabs can break off defrosters regardless of the brand.

I cant even see the wire so it must be under the panel. Do you know how the panel comes off?

removing C pillar panel

Once you remove c panels on both sides- you do have access to the two screws. I attached the photo to make it easier to see how to un-clip the c pillar panel. Be careful removing the panels as the tabs/clips are extremely vulnerable to breaking on old brittle plastic- 35-40 years old.

straight up

The panel slides straight up and comes off easily unless someone in the past has broke off the front clip and used silicone adhesive to hold in place of the front clip to hold the panel in place.
