'78 280ce: Free, in need of rebuild, brake calipers

Good morning, Everyone...

A few weeks back, I decided to replace all four calipers and rotors on my '78 280ce. The rear are ATE-branded, the front are Bendix. I replaced them because I intend to bring this car to daily driver status, and wanted a fresh system.

I posted in the classifieds for FREE + cost of shipping from San Francisco Bay Area, but wanted to give a heads-up to this forum in case anybody wanted them. They'll go to scrap otherwise.

OP:

For someone who is involved at some level in language arts, this is a remarkable ad:

"'78 280ce: Free, in need of rebuild, brake calipers"

It offers a free car, specifically a 78 280CE, that is in need of rebuilding, and also needs brake calipers.

However, OP, that may not be quite what you intended, eh?

I'll take them if still available. Been meaning to do the W123 upgrade to the wife's W115 and this sounds like the perfect excuse.

I generally don't reply to the language police, but here goes. I believe it's an appropriate title, but also not worth dissecting. I was taught in film school to adhere to the Associated Press school of journalism, where vital information is provided in the first sentence, in case the transmission is cut. What better place than a web forum to employ the technique, no?

Anyhow, the calipers have been spoken for.
