potential engine swap

Our 71 W115 220 has a very tired 4 banger in the engine bay. This is a manual tranny car. A friend has a good running 6 cylinder in a similar vintage parts car that is automatic transmission. Can our manual transmission with a flywheel swap be bolted up to the 6 cylinder?

The short answer is yes. The M115 flywheel will have twelve crankshaft bolts; the M180, M114, and M130 engines were supplied with both six-, and twelve-bolt crankshafts. If you are fortunate, the donor will be twelve.
Other issues to be addressed are pilot bearing installation, transmission mounting position in the chassis (farther aft due to longer engine), drive line length (shorter), shift rod length (shorter), speedo cable length (longer), and matching of imbalance of the flywheel.

The M130 was used until 1972. From '73 on, the M110 was standard.
