W108 valve adjustment
Need to adjust one exhaust valve on my 4.5 liter engine. The special tool seems nla so what is everyone using? Will a 24 mm crows foot wrench work?

I used a crow's foot without issues, not the best solution but one that works.

I had to use a combination of crows foot and a hazet tool I had because several of the adjusters were rounded off. So I'd need to crank 1/3 rotation instead of just 1/6 rotation on many. I was lucky I had the hazet 17mm tool plus an "snap on" 17mm crows foot. The hazet too bit better (less likely to round of an adjuster), but the crows foot I was able to spin 1/3 a rotation and then disconnect it and slide it out because it's so much smaller.

Probably you're looking for this special tool
It is useful to remove rocker arm very easily and use a standard socket to register valve clearance. I used it for my W123 with M115 938 (2.0L). |

You can't accurately measure valve clearance after removing the rocker on an m116 or m117 engine. They must be in place.

Please disregard my last post. I was measuring the mounting fitting not the adjust fitting. 17mm is what I need.

Here's a picture of two hazet tools. I think I have the one on the right. It looks like there may be a part number:
Hazet 17mm Crowsfoot Valve Adjusting Wrenches This looks like an opportunity to buy one right now. Overpriced? I don't know. But it looks like 329-4 is what you probably want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

IMO, unlike head bolts (which require a specific torque value, and thus the special tool to obtain a straight line from the bolt center to your torque wrench) the special tool isn't needed for valve adjustments. Worst case, if you feel the adjusters are too loose (below min torque resistance) you can follow Frank's advice to remove the rocker to measure that with a deep 6 point socket.
