76 w114 oil filter sensor ??

see this sensor attached to oil filter housing. has a wire coming off of it does this sensor control cold start system? having trouble with cold start when cold after vechile warms up engine runs smooth and no problems re starting only when engine is cold

There is an oil temperature sensor; it affects the injection of air into the exhaust stream before the catalytic convertor.

Cold start faults are primarily affected by a number of adjustments in/on the carburetor.
