W116 speedometer -- original?
Hi all,
I am looking at a late-production 6.9, made in the last few months of 1979. It has a 170-mph speedometer with an R107 number on the dial. I understand that these parts interchange, so this could possibly be a sign of odometer fraud, either by the seller or one of his predecessors. However, the seller hasn't given me reason to question his honesty so far, and it's a very well-documented car, at least over the long span of his ownership. Is it possible that the factory substituted an R107 dial in the last months of production? |
