Part ID W115 or W107

I have a few of these in my parts bin, but for the life of me cannot recall what they are or where they go , pretty sure they are MB vintage.
Just would like to know
About 4 inches square and clip on?

Just going by the shape and and scratches but not knowing these cars, I'm thinking tail light access in the trunk. Second would be center console by drivers / passengers feet.

The strange thing is that I think I’ve seen this same thing around my garage and assumed it had nothing to do with a car. It looks more like a cap for a square tube or something, like maybe part of my lift or something.

I thought a bit more and these are either off a w107 or a w115. I was parting out an 83 380 and a 73 220 when i think they were put in a box. I dont think they covered the sender.

Part ID W115 or W107

I’ve also parted both those models. MB almost always put the symbol in their parts. That’s one reason I think it’s not an MB part.

I think I remember mine laying around in the same time period I got my used scissor lift. Do you have one of those?

The only thing I can think of is the top cap of the jack. These varied from year to year and on some of the jacks they were easy to knock off.

This is not a fuel sending unit cap. Those are round.

Sometimes I have run across caps in the rear seat area after removing the seats. These were usually just snapped into place to cover an access hole.

But I don't recall any Mercedes part from that era, no matter how small, without a Mercedes logo and part number.

Idle would be referring to the vertical jack screw type, like a trailer tongue jack. I like that idea.

MB also typically puts part # on parts however the jack is made buy an outside vendor and component parts would not have a MB number.

Ahh yes. The rectangular base of a scissor jack might fit right into that plastic rectangle. Maybe this thing is part of the storage setup for one of those scissor jacks? I often seem to find parts from other jacks in the cars I buy. So this could make sense.
