Finally got rid of front license plate

I always disliked the front license plates on cars, specially on ones with such beautiful grilles like MBs.
They are just not aesthetically pleasing |

I agree with your aesthetic assessment, but some cities mandate that vehicles display both a front and rear plate. Check your local law.

Thank you though. |
Yea-front plates are ugly. Nevada has a loophole that allows no plate on the front. Kind of a shame-when I was in Ca I had a new front plate made from a NOS Ca blue plate blank to replace my damaged front plate. It's never been on the car and never will now. The car had it's original plates from when imported to the US in the early 70's. I got vintage Nevada plates made for my coupe but their on my pickup truck since I'm not driving the coupe now. That's the only way I could hold my desired plate number sequence.

Funny story, the State of New Mexico Commissioned a study and invested $650,000 in purchasing traffic camera's to monitor traffic and snap a picture of both the driver and the front license plate of violators. It wasn't until they got it up and going that they realized that New Mexico had no front plate requirement.

Anyway, it got a great photo of a local lawyer blasting along at about 85 with his, uh, 'personal secretary' in the car. When it was sent to his house his wife opened it. She was not amused. So he sued the city for some kind of invasion of privacy thing. Yeah, he was out in public but then you can sue anyone for anything so he did. The city fought it and fought it and delayed and delayed. The guy was old and he died. It was rumored the city was scared if it went to the Supreme Court they would lose so after the guy died they were in the clear. And while most folks don't have the personal funds to fight a lawsuit that far the city knew this guy did. So his legal threats were real and they knew it. They took the camera down a few years later. Vandals kept spray painting over the lens. |

My "anti front plate" solution.

Enforcement of front plate laws can be spotty, but it does give an officer a convenient reason to pull you over for anything else that caught his eye or made him suspicious.

I agree that these cars look far better without a front plate. Happily in AZ there is no requirement for one so I'll never have on a Benz a long as I own one here.

Your grille isn't blocked as far as I can tell on your vintage MB:confused:. The vintages '60s through the '80s MBs our family owned, the frnt plate was on the bumper assy. Far below any air obstruction of the grille air-flow. |
