All these great and helpful advices. I am tackling that this Saturday. There's a muffler shop where I did my muffler recently that I will go and see if he'll rent me the lift.
Thank you guys very much.

Update on vibration after installing guibos and center bearing...
Well, I didn't have access to a lift so I cannot tighten the center 46mm nut with the car on the ground. I just don't fit and my asphalt is salt and peppered with gravel.
I put the car up on jacks, I installed the trans. mount which by the way it is (Febi) half the width of the mount that was there. I'm not happy with that fact but I had to install it since mine was cracked. I loosened the 46mm nut and carrier bearing after inspecting the discs for proper fitment into shafts, trans and diff. I put the car on neutral and I rotated the tires and moved with force the shaft up and down grabbing it as close to the carrier bearing as possible. My idea was for it to seat itself. After a few minutes of hand rotations, I tightened everything exactly where it landed (carrier bearing position). The car runs like a magic carpet now, smooth as silk. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/391767-mild-trembling-vibration-after-changing-flex-discs-carrier-bearing.html Thank you all for all your help, insight and input.

Another way to fit under the car is to parallel park it next to a curb but with one side ON the curb and then jack the street side high enough to slide some 2x6s under the tires.

Like so or is there a different preference? http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/391767-mild-trembling-vibration-after-changing-flex-discs-carrier-bearing.html

I knew an old guy in the 60's who always had a ready response to information such as this....
"Why, that's as handy as a pocket on a shirt." Your efforts on this will save older Mercedes owners big money. This is the power of the internet. |

I forgot to mention: If you have the car supported on its wheels but not enough room to roll it back and forth, you can bounce it from the rear (as if testing the shocks). Because the differential is mounted on the rear subframe, when it moves vertically it will cause the driveshaft to move horizontally when the DS bolt and carrier bearing support are lose, thus allowing the DS to find its unstressed position.

If so, I did the exact problem you did. I installed the fatter model onto my r107 which had the mini one. The middle bit is for a bolt. My r107 is a daily driver, but if you were close by, I'd totally drive over and do a trade. Mine is practically new. Functionally, I don't think they're any different. Some sort of slight modification from the factory to ease in installation maybe. The hooligans over at Auto Hauz az sent me the wrong flex discs, though that's really my fault. They used different ones for different spec vehicles, so that one was on me

The wider one that goes on my car is a bracket-less mount. The narrower one like the one in your picture has a bracket that it goes into and a bolt that goes through the opening.
I already ordered the correct on (wider bracket-less) for my var and it's going in this weekend.
