York 210 Rebuild

Hello All,

Car is a 1978 280CE. I am in the process of rebuilding the old York 210 AC Compressor. I have the front seal kit and the gasket kit. My question is, should I install the lower (oil sump) gasket dry, or wet? I am running R12 so I would be using Mineral Oil. The old York rebuild literature says the gaskets should be lubricated with oil. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done the gaskets dry, or with any suggestions. I'm not sure what the logic is behind 'wet', on a fiber gasket. As I recall, the tightening torque on those bottom bolts is 10-16 ft.lbs.

Appreciate Your Help,
MM
