280sel 4.5 Wood Trim

I’m restoring all of the wood trim on my 72 280sel 4.5 and am curious which wood options were available on that model. Though I like the original walnut, it didn’t age very well and am considering the macasser ebony or another veneer. Do you think this would affect the value of my car by changing the wood from the original wood type?

Thanks

It doesn't matter if it changes the value. Get what you like. We aren't talking about something that can't be un-done if someone in the future wants...

I think it would be beautiful to have a non-standard wood in any Mercedes. There are so many really cool veneers that were not common back then...

I think the striped veneers look really good, much better than the original walnut that came in the 108 series. If anything it would add value to a 108.

I saw a picture of one 108or 109 in birdseye maple that was stunning....

My veneer, figured oak

I used my own veneer with "Prairie wheat" stain and Urethane finish. I have details in a different discussion thread.
