On my 76 280C, my rear passenger window went down...

....but it went down crooked making a couple of noises on the way.
It does come back up though.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

So............my rear passenger glass came unglued or unhinged from the rail. WTF?
There's nothing holding the glass! It's just sitting there held in place by a rubber long bushing of some sort.
I took my panel, etc. off only to find that there's an opera hole where by we can work on the glass, rail, etc. I applied silicone sealant/adhesive in hopes that the window will seal better and stay.

Well the silicone glue/sealant/adhesive did not work.
Do I need a new glass that has the rail glued to it or is there another method?
Do I remove everything and try some other type glue?
Does the rubber bushing around the glass need replacing?
Thanks in advance.

There are a number of possibilities which could be the problem.

A: You could be correct in the rubber insert's failure.
B: The urethane sealant might have lost its adhesion.
C: The metal frame holding the window rail to the glass has split.

To solve A & B take the car to a automotive glass replacement shop. They will have the rubber strip and adhesive. 3M makes the correct adhesive. It is a urethane/epoxy which will "stick" to the glass.

For C you will either need to source a new rail or repair the one you have. If it is split, any competent welding shop can braze it.

I finally took the window apart yesterday afternoon. Yes my window rail is split at the bottom towards the front. Nevertheless I took everything apart and cleaned and applied tons of Ace Hardware glue that supposedly adheres to glass. I let it seat for over 24 hours. The window is working fine. I am still going to source me a rail and new rubber insert.
Thank you once again.
