I think the b&w photo version does look cool. One thing though, I have nearly fifty years of stone chips on those areas between the grille and headlights and having a light there tends to make them less noticeable. I hope.
Your turn signal lights are yet another option, but I have always thought that functionally the turn signals should but on the corner as they are in the rear where they are visible from the side.

I agree about the visibility, plus I saw a pair of these cones going for $500 on someplace like ebay recently. Made me cringe!

I agree with your idea of ridding the car of the USA add-on side lights and using the Euro light assemblies instead. Also keep in mind that "Euro" is nothing more than the expression that we use in the USA to denote the original appointments that Mercedes come with, as in the original design of the car.

I think the 108s, 110s, and 111s look fine with whatever lights are on them, just so long as the low-beam headlamps aren't those overly bright blinding "retina roaster" HIDs or LEDs that mercilessly dazzle oncoming motorists. I can't say enough how much I hate those things when I catch them in the mirrors of my '68 Benz as I drive at night. Glare does not make any highway safer!

That aside, I always thought the orange corner turn signals on the front looked good with the stacked headlamps, and made room for fog lamps as an added bonus. I like using fog lamps when driving in the rain since they're aimed low.

I have always felt that the USA only turn signals were a desperate measure by MB to pass Federal requirements in order to sell the cars here. I think a 108/109 with USA style stacked headlights and inner fog lights looks like a real gem. In this instance what you prefer is the standard.

I am not sure what your definition of a reasonable price is but I found these.

The other option is to scour craigslist. I did see someone selling a Euro 108 last week which was in pretty bad condition. If it has not sold they might be willing to part it out.

I already have the stacked Euro headlights in hand. Bought them first for headlights but started considering using the embedded amber turn signal after I had trouble finding amber lenses for the USA only turn signal lamps.
Leaning toward the clean look with the option of adding inside lamps later.
