Looking for a workshop and owners manual for my '68 250S. Any recommendations?

the workshop manual is usually referred to as the BBB, the Big Blue Book. You want the W114 manual for a 250/8 car. There is a CD from Mercedes that has it and the supplements that pass for an engine manual.

EBay can be a fertile place to find some of the above. If the folks here can't sell you the service CD, try the Mercedes Classic Center in Anaheim, CA.

Looks nice. Your car is a w108, not w114 though. Didn't want you to order the wrong manual.

Mercedes has over 200 of the Service Manuals in stock for about $40. Seems crazy, but I just bought two of them. Brand new, in plastic. The Part number is 6510 1402 13. Call your local dealer. Please don't buy them all and put them on eBay. You would suck. The earlier manual from 1959 is a copt and costs about $120.

I didn't know reprints of the 1968 - 1972 manual were available. That's great news. I have several used ones if someone wants to buy them ranging from horrible condition to mint condition. Some items require having the earlier BBB (Starting 1959). The 1968 manual is a continuation of the 1959 - (1967) but they never actually say that. Having both is good. I always found the CD format manuals to be useless.

Anyone who would do that would suck, as you say...maybe you should erase your post so the world doesn't know... : ) Thanks for the info though!

I contacted the Classic Centre in Irvine about this. NO, the manuals are not available from the Classic Centre in Irvine. Yes, they _may_ be available from the Classic Centre in Germany. Unknown what language. You have to order directly from the Classic Centre Germany's website which I don't have the URL for.

I'm highly skeptical that one can buy a NEW BBB for 108 109 113 for $40.

A quick look at the site in Germany shows that the 1959 is available for €109.90 and the 1968 is available for €119.90, both plus shipping, both in German.

Scooter, why would I make this up and take the time to post it here? Your reply is an insult. The Classic Center is not the end all be all of old MB parts. That's why I supplied the part numbers and said to call your local dealer. You can buy all the beat up manuals you want to on eBay for too much money. Go ahead. Here are pix of the ones I just got, from my local MB dealer, one still in plastic. You can see that the 1968 manual is offset printed (Germany) and the 1959 one is a photocopy (USA).

Dobrodan is right. I even bought the 1950 170 service manual from the Classic Center. It had been reprinted in the 1970s.

I do not mean to insult you. I'm skeptical that's all. So I contacted Tom Hanson at the classic center and he basically said they it's the Classic Center in Germany, so I did my research there. If Tom and the US Classic Center are wrong then good for you! BTW, does the manual list the reprint date?
