Question W114 Behind the Spare

Newbie here= be kind.
Can someone advise of the item that is located behind the spare tire of 1975 Mercedes w114? Was in the trunk earlier today and removed the spare tire to clean back there and found small tank of sorts attached to the inner panel and has a broken line. Car is new to me so not really sure what it is. Have searched high and low and wound up here. Anyone know? Thank you in advance.

Fuel vapor recovery tank. Two small lines lead from bottom of the container to the fuel tank, one large, hard plastic line leads to the front of the vehicle to the charcoal filled receptacle. There might be another on the side of the tank which vents to outside via a line leading to the rear wheel well, can't remember for sure regarding the last one.

Mike - hat tip. I am most grateful. A couple times I moved the broken line and could smell gas but wasn't sure of its origin. that's getting repaired today.

I revel in your Awesomeness!

You must be easily awed.
