Coincidence or...did I mess something up?

I just got back this past week and I decided to tackle my motor mounts. I found them to be difficult, specially aligning the motor mount hole to the arm. I followed the instructions of the listers (thank you) and when I finished took her for a drive.
My car does not kick down upon acceleration to go into passing gear and she does not go into first gear when I accelerate hard upon start up.
I checked carburator and linkages and everything looks normal.
Could it be a coincidence that my kick down switch has gone bad while I was working on my mounts or did I do something wrong that I'm obviously missing?

Thank you all in advance.

The accelerator linkages has an extra arm that connects it back to the transmission. Did you perhaps dislodge it?

CTH I believe hit the nail on the head , also just to be safe check all linkages to tranny. My other thought, how worn were the mounts? engine most likely up higher now? make sure nothing is dislodged or out of wack

If the engine was sitting lower than it is now and you had the linkages correctly adjusted, you can be out of whack now since raising the engine can change the kinematics of the rods and cranks involved. Check for something disconnected, but don't be surprised if you need to tweak one of the rods a couple turns to bring it back into spec.

Let's call it Idiot Error.
In my zeal to get that bolt into the mount, I must have raised the motor too much (Mike D warned me about this).
There's a bar that goes into the firewall and it connects to the accelerator linkage and to the trans linkage bar. This bar has a spring inside the firewall, this bar was slightly bent. I took it apart and hammered it straight and I adjusted the linkage of the accelerator at the point of the firewall.

Everything's fine with the Universe now.

Thank you all for input.

Glad to hear it was an "easy" fix. Don't feel bad about bending the bar. How do you think I knew about lifting the engine too high?

o
Speaking about the bar......is it supposed to wobble in the firewall receptacle? Is there supposed to be a place where the spring grabs on to?
