M116 inlet leaks
 

Hi,

Although my car runs really well, the tickover is lumpy. I can affect it with carb cleaner around various areas of the inlet manifold, and the car stood for a very long time..I am sure anything rubber is kaput. I have replaced all injector seals, and I shall replace the inlet manifold gaskets soon, but I was hoping someone could identify the specific plenum seals (?) and other areas which would benefit from replacement. I have replaced the hose to the MAP sensor. I have searched the forum but not managed to find any specifics regarding those seals.
My parts diagram does not include the engine so I am unable to identify the part no's for the plenum seals etc, if someone could point those out I'd be grateful. Any other tips for that job most welcome, thanks.

Remove the intake manifold and take it completely apart. The 8 seal rings are readily available and are not hard to change.
Remove the throttle valve and blow compressed air through the vacuum line ports - they often get plugged with carbon. Adjust the throttle valve so that it just starts to grab a bit when fully closed. All of the rubber hoses should be replaced while you're at it so that you can eliminate any possible source for a vacuum leak.
An air leak will increase idle speed. If you can turn the air screw all the way in at hot idle, and it will still run at or above 800 RPM, either the auxillary air valve isn't shutting off or you still have vacuum leaks.

I've not had any luck spotting those 8 seals on any of the normal parts places I frequent..you guys have it a lot easier over your side of the pond. Doesn't help that I don't know the part no's. Do they have a specific name?

I have previously removed the throttle body and rebuilt it and the TPS, and cleaned out the (tiny) vacuum hole, which was plugged up initially. All other hoses etc have been replaced...it's just those pesky 'seal rings' or whatever they are called now.
