om621 Timing

Thanks for the suggestions on removing my oil filter housing. Nothing worked so I just left it up in there rotated it changed the filter rotated back and tightened the bolt. No pre filter on this one? Thought that there was supposed to be one!
On ward.
Checking the timing and with the washer grove lined up with the bump, pointer is showing about 6 deg BTDC. There is some movement on the chain when I lift but not much. I don't have a manual but from what I can find on the web ( which isn't much) this doesn't look right.
Should I check this against the IP timing? How do I do that?

Thanks

The setup need both filters for proper filtration. Without the plastic mesh filter the oil goes unfiltered to the moving parts..and without the proper spring tension the by-pass flow(that goes back directly to the sump)is severely reduced..if it's there at all.
Here is how it looks like:

The by-pass filter is the metal cannister type:

I would not run the engine without both present in the bowl.

Double checked two sources- engage reverse gear...rotate st.wheel fully right and loosen the handbrake..weird.

Check the other thread for how to check fuel delivery...

I hope somebody with om621 check the cam marks alignment and report the result..I'm kinda inclined to think that MB were not that precise on putting the mark on the cam tower..or the cut mark on the cam washer. It has never been a proper way to check timing anyway...
