Blower motor for 1979 450sel question

Are the motors different for different years.?If so what is correct for my car.Can they be rebuilt?

My motor is intermittent, works for a while if I bang on it.

The motors are different depending on whether the car has automatic or manual climate control. The manual climate control blowers have a regulator attached for the fan speeds. The automatic one uses a variable resistor and the connection is different.

edit: this is for the 450SL, I'm not sure about the W116.
