w108 Differential gear backlash adjustment/backlash value

Hello everybody,

I'm diassembling rear axle completely because of having too much space when rotating shaft by hand almost half turn, bu no movement at wheels. I checked when the car is 'N' and and rear left wheel is up. I think, pinion pin worn together with spider gears. I will repace with new parts which purchased before but more importantly at this time I want to check and readjust backlash (space between pinion gear and ring gear).

Do you know what is the value of backlash for w108 or such MB's swing axles?

I know there is a locking teeth where the numbers 1-13 on for adjusting backlash, turning clockwise is for tightening(reducing space) decreas,ng backlash or vice versa.

Thank you very much in advance..

Regards,

Kutluhan

Pinion to ring gear clearance (backlash) = .08 - .14mm
