Is This W116 Grille Guard Stock Or Aftermarket?

I don't know if this grille guard set is original or aftermarket, but now I want one for my 300SD! I know they made them for the W111 fintail and I want to find one for my 230S as well. (Pics found on craigslist.)

I didn't think that the North American bumpers could be any uglier, but I was wrong.

I actually like the USA bumpers better, especially with the grille guard. I do prefer Euro headlights, though.

Let me guess...you probably like steam locomotives, too, right?

Actually, when I was very young I loved steam locomotives. I had lots of books on them and one of my favorite things was my Lego train set.

You're right, those grille guards are ugly, so send all of them to me!

You know, I would have gladly traded a nice set of Euro bumpers for them. I had a near mint set for sale for a while and finally ended up selling them for $20 to a guy who wanted to cut them down and put them on his Datsun pickup. Then I had a set of good Euro bumpers for sale on here for a while before anyone showed any interest. After shipping I ended up losing money on them.

By the way, that 450SEL is for sale here in Tacoma, WA: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ctd/1057343597.html . If anyone wants to buy it, I will gladly remove those "unsightly" bumper over riders for you.

All ur overriders are belong to me!

Seriously, send any you may have my way. I guess you guys won't like the fact that I not only want these overriders, but chrome fender trim, wide whitewall tires, and a two-tone brown and tan paint job! Also, my car is going to have all manual options by the time I'm done with it. So, ha!

No, I don't care for covered roofs as they trap a lot of moisture and rust, and are prone to deterioration.

Not to mention it looks like ****.

I kinda like those bumper guards tho...not sure why. It's like ultimate protection from other cars bumping you lol. Which you really need in a place like LA, for instance.

I like the USA bumpers because they offer more collision protection and they make the car look longer. I think the overriders add to the effect, and certainly would help keep the grille from damage in some cases. I love how my front bumper floats over the curb when parking. I like the look of the Euro bumpers, but would rather have the USA type.

I prefer the Euro lights because they are cleaner and sleeker looking. And, I think they are brighter than the USA type. Also, they look crosseyed and cute.

I'm not one for overdoing it with the "blang-blang", but I think adding chrome fender trim goes well with this model since it already has an abundance of chrome and it ties it all together. Makes the car look longer, too.

I like two-tone paint jobs and I just love dark brown and tan color combinations.

I'm going to manual options to make the car simpler and in need of less maintenance.

I'm not going to be putting any custom rims on the car, so don't worry. I like the bundt wheels way too much.

I don't like the look of US bumpers and like the euros but I purposely bought a 6.9 partially for the terrible drivers in LA....and wouldn't you know that the big solid bumpers and hydraulic rams worked!

So far it's defended itself against:

1 Audi TT
1 Kia Rio

After all , you are paying for it and besides : in matters of taste , others are usually WRONG !
