Tachometer interchange W116 to W123
Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the tachometer from a W116 into a W123 cluster?
Background: I am starting a new Mercedes-Benz project this year; one of my new Benz friends located a 1975 W116 450SE that was in a front end collision. The car sat indoors for 40 years until he purchased it a few months ago. My friend is going to keep the body, interior, and trim for his 300SD restoration, and he offered me the M117 since he has no use for it. Because the motor is complete with low miles and in good condition, I would like to put it into a needy 123 wagon or coupe. I have a few ideas at improving the performance of the US spec M117; all that info will be included in a build thread to follow, all I want to know is if the tachometer can fit into a 123 cluster. Thanks in advance!
