Power steering pump belt OM617 / W114 / 300D 13 x 775 size ??
 

Evening.

Car is a bit of a frankenstein, originally it was a W114 230-8 from 1974, now has a OM617 300D motor in it.

Power steering belt very very loose, so much so that I had to remove the stabilizing brace on the outside ( frankfurter shape tube, about 30cm long with a bolt at each end ) to be able to get to pump to anywhere close to, well, not being tensioned enough.

This is the type pump that is separate from the reservoir.

The belt on the thing is 13 x 775 , anyone else have that size on their vehicle ?

I've tried to fit a 13 x 750 , which the internet seems to agree is the correct size, but there is no way that it would fit.

Next step will be to acquire a new 13 x 775 belt, but it surprises me that there can so much play, guessing it's down to worn notches on ta very old belt.

Maybe someone changed one of the pulley wheels over the years if the 13 x 775 isn't a common option, apparently there's a 13 x 763 available as well.
