Dash clock replacement - early Benzes.
Our 72 107 has a separate clock in center of dash. It is a Kienzl mechanical clock with electric winder.
After 47 years, my clock is a bit temperamental and I am thinking of replacing it with an electric quartz clock. Has anyone found one that will fit the dash opening and look like it belongs? Re existing clock: Years ago, I did the winder upgrade (diode and capacitor). So that part works. I have washed the clock mechanism (a little detergent in an ultrasonic bath). Oiled it carefully. It works. But hard to adjust and occasionally doesn't run. Just getting old.

Just looking for a new quartz clock that will replace the existing electro-mechanical clock currently in the center dash opening between the two air vents.

Hi Graham,
Have you resolved your clock issue? I repair Mercedes Benz electro-mechanical clocks. The mechanical gears are similar to a pocket watch. Over time the gear lubricant loses its lubricious quality and the gears will bind and stop. Then the electronics overheat and melts the fuse which saves the clock and prevents fire. The clock is an important gauge. I believe that keeping it original maintains aesthetic and quality of the dashboard. Best regards, Jeffrey
