76 280c central locks

I purchased a mighty vac pump tester. none of my door locks work or the trunk or gas cap lock. even the seats don't work. notice defroster only blows air on passanger vent. the ac control knob only activates on one setting. any ideas where to start diagnose? cant find info in a 114/115 factory repair manaual fr mercedes

I believe that the vacuum container is in the fender on that car, drivers side. , however a common area to fail is in the driver door where you will find a connector that feeds several lines for the door and tank ect. Id find that and inspect . The defroster and dash is another story typically the vacuum pods loose function , but could also be lines broken or detached
Testing the system is not easy , its tedious and time consuming

Inside the driver’s door is a master vacuum switch as mentioned before. This switch is provided vacuum directly from the engine and then distributes the vacuum as lock or unlock to the doors locks.

A smoke tester sure makes this job a lot easier.

Yes a smoke emitter will blow smoke out of any vacuum line/junction that leaks.
