W114 CE: How do I remove heater control from dash?

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I need to remove the heater controls from the dash of my W114 Coupe. The dash is already out, as part of dealing with other terrors such as the Bulkhead and Heater matrix.

I have found two well-hidden bolts, BEHIND the control facia, which secures the entire alloy control, behind the dash. I have also noticed that the Fan speed button itself forms part of the system securing the control panel to the dash.

That is about all I can see. I have been at it all this day and drive to tears and shortly, a great deal of violence if I pursue this without any advice.

Pics of both targets attached.

PLEASE HELP!

Managed it. For anyone's future reference:
From a point that all control cables have been fully disconnected from the rear of the control, in the dashboard.
  • Remove top vent (held by two detent-pins on either side of the vent)
  • Remove two tiny screws now revealed behind the above vent grid
  • Turn Fan speed control maximal anticlockwise
  • Pull the Fan Speed control knob straight out (Might be quite tough, held by a detent). Also remove the silver switch-securing nut.
  • Now pull off all the control slider plastic knobs.
  • Pull out top vent housing, which now reveals two bolts, originally hidden under the vent control. Remove these screws and the entire control unit will be now detached from the front of the dash.

Thank you for posting this. I was wondering how to do this myself; now I am better informed.
