climate control switch in 76 mercedes 280c

only one setting works when I rotate the knob on climate ac control. is there a way to test this switch.

Clarify. Are you saying only one fan speed works when you engage the switch?

On heat or on A/C?

The fan speed has a resistor block (located under the fresh air cowling, if I remember correctly) which controls the actual fan power/speeds. Number one in the attached picture.

The dash switch itself activates various legs on the resistor. Number two in the diagram.

Resister looks similar to this one which is for a W126. Can't find a good picture for the /8.
