Vintage MB Sales Record Information

Hello all...is there any way one can pay Mercedes corporate for record info on original sales / factory info on an early car we have? I have a '69 280SL I'd like to learn what the original order sheet looked like and who ordered the car...appreciate any ideas if anyone has been able to obtain such info for their own car...thanks...

You can get the data card for 150 bucks but MB won't tell you anything about the first owner.

As previously stated, you can get the build/data card for a fee from the Classic Center, but that's it. They never had the owner's information during this time frame, it "lived" strictly with the selling dealer.

Even if they did, they wouldn't disclose it.

Have you considered trying a title search on the car? Some states will allow you to get title information.

There is one exception on old cars from MB. You can get the original owner's name for a 600. So few were made that it was a big deal and MB kept records of original purchase. The '68 we had was bought by a doctor near Detroit.
