WTB: W111 Front cross member or just the ends

The end sections of the front cross member (what the front bumper mounts to) on my coupe are badly rotted. Does anyone have a new cross member, a good used cross member, or can harvest just the end sections if they're not rusted out? My car uses the version that is straight all the way across, as opposed to the version that drops down below the radiator, although I believe the end sections are the same.

Thanks!

Do a search for part number 110 620 05 86. This is the front bar with the attachments the bumper bolts to. These are known as the bracket or the console.

If you use need the front bar alone, and can reuse your consoles, look for part number 110 626 06 55.

Both are available new and for much less than you might think. You would still need to get them painted since they would come with a very light coat of gray primer.

These are the part numbers for the 112.

If you are in So Cal you might fine one in a Pick n Pull you can cut off a 108 or even a 111 4dr-they are the same. Mine was rusty too and I cut a rust free one off a donor car and drilled the spot welds out and grafted it on. My car spent most of it's life in San Francisco where it's damp and by the ocean so it got a bit of rust.

Hi Tony,
My car came from SF, and I think was brought over from Germany in the 80's and given a whored out refurbishment in order to flip it. It is very rusty. When I found it in downtown SF (in the SF Chronicle Classifieds) in April '92, I'd never seen a rusty one and had very little experience/knew very little about the cars. I gave the underside a quick peek, handed over the 5k, and drove it home. It wasn't until a few weeks later that I discovered the rocker panel ends had been filled with expandable spray foam construction insulation, shaped and then covered in undercoating, and other areas had been packed with wire like you'd use on a Rabbit cage, spray foam insulation, and then undercoated. Needless to say....she's a bit rusty in the corners, trunk wells, front cross member, and a large hole in the side, just rearward of the driver's door. Ugh.

The center area of my cross member is actually solid, so that's the plan, as you suggest. I actually found w108 ends and they will be here tomorrow.

Today is all about new o-rings in the electric fuel pump, and rebuilding the right rear brake caliper!

Mine came to the states in '78. Rust Not nearly as extensive as yours sounds. Just some of the thinner exposed sheet metal was affected. The ends of the inner fender supports are rusty(common with coupes, exposed to road debris)-I am fabricating new ones.
Here's a cab conversion 250SE coupe on BAT that's commanding a high price. It's had obvious rust repair
