Sagging rear end 70 280se cab

I had a new compensator installed and the rear is still sagging any idea what else i should be looking at to raise things up?

Also, trying to get information how to change front blinker bulb

How do you add images via url I tried but for some reason none of the images show up.

I have a 280SE 3.5 cab and can say that the springs are rarely the cause. But they have spacers above it and they have to be aligned perfectly. Also you have to look at the differential mount in the trunk. I just replaced all of this… The diff mount, trailing arm bushings, support mounts that run off the differential. Also the front stabilizer bar bushings, engine mounts, sub frame mounts, transmission mound, etc. etc. etc.The car definitely sits a little higher and more balanced. I have the compensating spring instead of the hydropneumatic compensator. They are a pain in the neck and they only last a couple years when they’re restored. Good luck I hope you find the issue

Did you do the installation yourself? I want to look into doing the same or at least checking to see if its out of whack. I have nothing to go off of and if you did it could you point me to a visual reference so i can try

Its always sat lower than what i thought was normal, sadly i think the people at the classic center are idiots as they agreed but did nothing about it.

classic center in Anaheim?
They are not cheap, but they'll do pretty much anything for a price, except maybe cut corners.

I had a close friend who seems to be an expert on everything Mercedes. Plus he has experience with a W 100, W109 and W1 89. I had the luxury of a lift at at a body shop that are friends of mine. The whole job was not for the faint of heart! I certainly couldn’t of done it myself. Gosh… Even ordering genuine Mercedes parts at 20% off cost around $2000. I can’t imagine what the whole job would’ve cost if I brought it to a Mercedes shop, such as the classic center.

There is a spec for camber-have you checked it? The camber is directly related to the height. If the camber is correct so is the height.

This is from the set of CD's I bought 20 years ago from the Classic Center-it's a whole thing trying to keep it working. There might be other options-maybe someone will chime in.

Is the coil-spring replacement/conversion for the compensator advisable or still available? I installed one on a guy's '66 250S many years ago and he's still happy with it.

Happy Motoring, Mark
