Seatbelts upgrade 70 220D

The original seatbelts are done, past done.

Want to upgrade with retractable 3 point type. Has anyone used seatbelts from
a newer model for front and back that look stock?

Thanks, appreciate the help

There are a lot of places that will restore your old belts.

I put retractable 3-point belts (from the front seats of a 1973 280 w114) into the rear seat of my 68 220d w115. My car has all of the attachment points already there. You just have to find them under the seat and on the shelf. I put the retractor on the shelf since it didn't really fit anywhere else. They look totally fine/stock, because they are pretty old as well. But they are those strange belts which allowed you to remove the shoulder belt and only wear the waist belt. And since I installed them differently, in my case you can remove the waist belt and only wear the shoulder belt. This would obviously be very unsafe, so I don't let my kids wear them that way.

My 1987 300TD wagon was sold and my 2003 W210 E320 wagon was totaled (sheds tear).

Go for it. I put the retractable belts available new today on my 1970 W108 front and rear. They look good and work great.

Hi Shortsguy1,

Is this what the mounting point looked like in your 1968 220d? I have a 1972 250c and am hoping to do the same.

Thanks!

The rear seat belt retractors in my '74 are mounted further out than the area you've marked. Remove one of those circular plugs/covers and have a look. That location is more consistent with what I see in my car.
